There are a million watering holes in LA but this one's my favourite.
I love The Eagle because it's got such a relaxed vibe (if you can avert your eyes from the porn that's incessantly playing from the several tv screens).
Usually there's some kind of theme night, or dancing muscle gogo men (they'd hardly qualify as boys). But it's always a lot of fun.
As a bit of a rock'n'roll afficionado from way back I had completely given up on ever hearing rock music in a gay bar. Blondie was kind of the last guitar music to be played in gay bars before some genius decided to remix all of their hits, and remove every last skerrick of guitar from those tracks.
Can't wait to meet THAT guy, whoever he is.
On this particular night at The Eagle there was an uber cool industrial metal punk band thing going on. I don't even know if that's their pigeonhole, or what their name is, but it was pretty refreshing to just see something different going on.
I'd met A & D at this bar before, as they're Silver Lake locals. They're married and super sweet.
I couldn't help but take a photo of them kissing with a metal band in the background. This is the post kiss photo which I actually liked better:
You'll just have to imagine what the music sounded like in the background all by yourself.
